The Berry water system was established in the early 1930’s with a well system. The system was limited to a very small area. In the 1970’s Bay’s Lake was used as the town’s water source and water service was extended out of the town limits into the county going out Hwy 18 East toward the city of Fayette and down County Road 35 to serve households in the Canaan area. In the 1990’s water service was extended in the State Lake area and several rural roads in the county. In the 2000’s water service was extended in the Pea Ridge and New Chapel area in conjunction with the Fayette County Commission. In 2009, the town completed construction on a new 1 million gallon per day water treatment plant. In 2010, the town in conjunction with the Fayette County Commission will be extending water service along Hwy 13 and a portion of Hwy 102 and several adjoining roads.
